As we look to get back to regular meetings as the schools return after the summer break the media team have been active enquiring what our leaders and groups have been upto over the summer.

The DC Jenny Stevens has been busy making sure all our district campsite visitors have had an amazing time at our lovely campsite. She has also managed to find the time to take up a new hobby whilst doing all the family things that need to be done over holidays including child care for the grand children.

Members of the 5th Lochaber have again lead by the wonderful example of Pat and Liz have made the village of Maliag look beautiful with the flower boats and flower pots, this is for the villagers and the holiday makers who travel on the Jacobite Steam Train to their beautiful area of our small district. Although the media team have not made it down there I am sure the team will be sending us pictures and a full news update soon.

As the summer break has progressed we have had three Explorers who attended Blair Athol Jamboret and from what I have heard had an amazing time. Mean while one explorer braved the challange to travel to Coventry to represent the district in the scout concert band and took part in 3 concerts that were greatly recived  by the audiances. The media team is working to bring you more information on these storries when the members return post the summer break.

Our leadership team are not only active in scouting as seen by our team out in Maliag, our ADC(AT) went the extra mile to help the gala in Wick in Caithness by getting dressed up as Elmo to help children there get support and exposure to activities like scouting.

It has also been a time for leaders with permits to continue to refresh their skills, some of the leaders from Great Glen Explorers have been out walking and climbing finding new experiances and routes for their members.

At the same time the members in district who make up and run the Highlands and Islands Target sport have been working down the range mantaining the skills required whilst also making sure the equipment is ready for the term a head.

The district team also wish to say well done to all our members who have sat exams this year and we hope you got what you wanted or needed, good luck to those going off to further studies as well as those chosing what they want from the years a head. Lochaber scouts have and will continue to give you skills for life.

A big shout out to all our members and we hope you have had a good summer and we hope you have a good start back post the summer break.
